Qiushi Discovery Engine Autonomously Discovers Novel Optical Bilinear Interaction
The LLM-based agentic system, Qiushi Discovery Engine, demonstrated end-to-end autonomous scientific discovery on a real optical platform, reproducing a published transmission-matrix experiment and converting abstract theory into experimental observables. In an open-ended study involving 145.9 million tokens and 3,242 LLM calls, the engine proposed and experimentally validated optical bilinear interaction, a physical mechanism analogous to Transformer attention. This AI-discovered mechanism suggests a route towards high-speed, energy-efficient optical hardware for pairwise computation.
